Congratulations to our first ever "Student of the Month" for January, Georgia! Georgia received student of the month for the second grade and got to eat lunch with Mr Auer, she will also get to meet Lizzie Sider next month at our school wide anti bullying assembly! Congratulations, Georgia, keep up with the good work! Yay! We made it to the 100th Day of school! Your students are 100 Days older, 100 Days smarter and 100 Days closer to being 3rd Graders! We enjoyed the day with a Race to 100 competition as well as a fun craft! Check out our photos and see for yourself! This week we completed our science mini unit on "What Animals do in the Winter." The students had a blast learning about animals that hibernate, migrate or adapt. Our cumulating STEM experiment challenged them to create the habitat of a hibernating frog with our 4th grade buddies using Oreos, jello, and whip cream! Our classroom Elf on the Shelf, Jingles, had a great time with us in room 10. I am sure your students eagerly came home to tell you about his antics each day! Sadly, we said goodbye to him today and wished him well on his trip back to the North Pole. Here are some of our fondest memories of him! Good evening Parents:
Second grade is going to go out with a bang before the holiday break - we have a very busy upcoming week! Please make sure that you are signing and returning your students Friday Folder with them on Monday Morning, homework is not due each week until Friday. Monday is our Healthy Holiday Fun Night from 6:00 to 7:00, RSVP is necessary, please plan to come! I will be assisting in this event. We are starting a week long unit on "What Animals Do in The Winter" on Monday, and will have an experiment on Thursday, check your students Friday Folder for information and needed material, stapled to their homework packet. 2nd Grade will also be doing a book exchange, please send in books before Friday, mark the book with "To: Girl/Boy, From: Your Child's Name". These books may be new or also pre loved from your own collection. Friday is our last day before winter break! We have early dismissal at 11:40AM, please plan accordingly. Can you believe we have almost made it through our first half of the inaugural year at GCCAS?! I hope to see you Monday night, and I hope you all have a happy holiday break!
